FOOD REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPIES

Feed for dogs should vary depending on the stage of their life. Alike every human being, these nutritional necessities will be different in childhood, adulthood and eventually, in the elder years. We have classified these calories and metabolic necessities according to three different life stages: puppies (from 45 days up to 12 months old), adult (from 1 year up to 7 years old) and dogs older than 7 years. In this article, We will put across the essential food requirements for puppies

Newborn puppies feed exclusively on breast milk, which provides them with adequate nutrition and the necessary immunological defenses. Weaning of puppies occurs when these little creatures reach the four weeks old. Then, puppies will begin to eat soft food, in the form of porridge or food for puppies moistened with water.

After the eighth week, the average puppy is already weaned and able to feed himself with solid food. Growth is quite fast during the early stages and his activities are intense and frequents, so at this poing the puppy will need a diet rich in fat and protein. We would like to advise you to feed your pup 4 times a day up to 3 months, 3 times a day when your pup is between 3 and 6 months, and twice a day when your puppy is over 6 months.

We would like to put forward our best suggestions for puppies.
